Behind the Bar is a cocktail making class in Melbourne that’s interactive, hands-on, and set in the kind of hidden bar you’d usually only find by word of mouth.
Led by a working bartender, you’ll shake, stir, and sip your way through a relaxed two-hour session. You’ll enjoy a welcome drink and grazing board before learning to make two cocktails of your choice. It’s the perfect way to kick off a night out in the city with no experience required.
With a maximum of 15 people in the group, there’s plenty of time for questions, laughs and personal attention. You’ll create a few great drinks — and memories — along the way.

The experience includes a welcome cocktail, a grazing board, and the chance to make two cocktails of your choice with guidance from an expert bartender.
Guests can upgrade their booking to include a $60 3-course banquet dinner at Seamstress (normally $70). Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., and must be booked in advance. Drinks are not included with dinner.
The 20% drink discount voucher (included with dinner upgrade) is valid at Seamstress cocktail bar or The Emerald Peacock for pre-dinner drinks.
This experience is for guests aged 18+ only.
Guests arriving late may miss part of the experience and might not be able to make both cocktails.
Intoxicated guests will be refused entry or removed from the class without a refund.
You must be over 18 to join this experience, but there’s no upper limit – you’re never too old to shake the tins!
You can upgrade your experience to include 3-course banquet dinner in the restaurant at Seamstress. Since the class finishes at 5pm, we’ll give you a discount voucher that can be used in either the upstairs cocktail bar at Seamstress, or in their partner venue just down the road, The Emerald Peacock.
Apart from the welcome cocktail which is the bartenders choice, the two cocktails you make yourself will be selected based on your preferred flavour profile. Whilst we obviously need to work within what is available, if there are 10 people taking part in the experience, theoretically we could make 20 different cocktails. You’ll be guided every step of the way by the expert bartender leading the class.
